The viral upside-down tart trend goes gourmet! This easy fall recipe recreates the tasty trend with premium Killer Brownies® that turn any treat into an elevated dessert.
SERVINGS: 6
INGREDIENTS
2 Original Killer Brownie® bars
1 sheet puff pastry (thawed overnight in the fridge)
1 large Granny Smith apple (sliced)
2-3 tbsp caramel topping
1 egg
½ tbsp water
Powdered sugar (for garnish)
Whipped cream (for garnish)
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat the oven to 400F.
While the oven is preheating, line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
Unroll the puff pastry on a clean work surface and slice it into 6 rectangles.
Next, drizzle about 2 teaspoons of caramel sauce onto the parchment paper, equally spaced, and top the caramel drizzle with apple slices.
Sliver each Killer Brownie® bar into 4 pieces lengthwise and place one slice on top of the apples.
Place a blanket of puff pastry on top of each brownie/apple cluster and gently press the edges down to seal.
Then, whisk together 1 egg and water to create an egg wash.
Brush each puff pastry rectangle with the egg wash and bake for 15 minutes.
Once baked, allow the pastries to cool on the baking sheet.
Place another baking sheet over the top of the pastries and flip to reveal the parchment paper on the underside.
Carefully peel off the parchment paper from the bottom of the pastries and serve with a dusting of powdered sugar and a dollop of whipped cream or caramel.
Enjoy immediately!
